*Postscript to the above: Those who know me are aware that my wife, Sharida Cox, and I were separated in 1997. The cause of our separation, after three years of marriage, was the fact that I slapped her on several occasions. I deeply regret this abuse (for which I was jailed twice) and for which I feel much guilt and sorrow and shame. It's more than ironic to me that I discovered I had PTSD as a result of confronting a man who was physically abusing his wife, and then ended up abusing my own wife in the same manner.
